MY EXPERIENCE ON GROWING NEW ZEALAND INNOVATION CHALLENGE.

INTRODUCTION:

Hi, everyone, it's Ofa here and in the past few weeks we have been working on a project which was GROWING NEW ZEALAND INNOVATION CHALLENGE and we were asked to work in a group of four or three so we can work together to create what we were told to do, and we were given each topic to choose what we want to do and our group and our group choose CAREERS AND CAPABILITY. The problem was the primary sector offers too many opportunities in the field of agri-science and business industry, however, they still fail to attract more people in the field of agri-science and business industry. Our challenge was to create a solution of how to persuade youth to be interested in the field of agri-science and business.

DLO (Digital Learning Object)

Reflection:

Being in this project, we made too many flaws and hardships. The struggles have begun from doing our prototype. We are thinking so deep into our problem but that just made us be out of the topic. We exerted too much effort thinking about what should we do here, what should we do about this…. but what we all have to do is a simple but important idea. We might struggle with doing this but we managed to finish it and we are satisfied with what we have done. This experience was not just a normal research, it is challenging but most important is we learned something from it and we enjoyed. Overall, this experience stressed us out yet we enjoyed it a lot.

London Life in 1850s

29.08.18
In Social Studies we were asked to do a creative writing about you being in London in 1850s and we had to write our story according to the following information.

  • You are living in London, it is the 1850s and you hated it. You see posters promoting a new life in a distant land called New Zealand. There are job opportunities and a promise of a new start.
  • Your story needs to include, your life in London and why you hated it.
  • The journey on the ship and what's it like.
  • What life is like when you arrive. Click the image to get an idea.
  • Go and create a story and make your PUSH and PULL FACTOR CLEAR.
And this is my story.

                             LONDON LIFE IN THE 1850s….
My family has gone through a hard life in London (1850s), life is miserable and raising my family was not very easy. We couldn’t afford anything because we did not have enough money and the people were very poor. If their families won’t work they would not eat anything or they could not afford to travel anywhere, and they might not survive, my sister’s and brothers did not attend school either. We had to work very hard for our family to survive and finding a job was a very difficult thing but we had to try our best just for our family.

Life was not that easy because we had to live in a very small place which was noisy and crowded with lots of people, some people did not have any privacy and it was hard to get your own house cause housing was very expensive the worst thing was we did not have any electricity we had to use candles only. The air was not very nice for breathing. We had to work long hours in coal mines and factories in order for my family to survive. One day I was looking through a poster and a post caught my eye. Promoting a new life far away from London, away from all the distress so I decide to travel to New Zealand.

I know it was going to be hard because I knew I was going to a far place with so many different people and different cultures, but I want to do it for my family. We waited for the boat to arrive when the boat arrived we say goodbye to our families and friends then get on the boat ready to travel to New Zealand. The sea journey was halfway around the world it took four to five months but depending on the wind and weather. The sailing ships were overcrowded and uncomfortable, with little fresh food available. Illnesses spread quickly and some people, especially children, died at the sea.

The poorer passengers cooked their meals on wood stoves, with no stop for fresh meat. We had to sleep in an area that was crowded and cramped with only curtains for privacy. Passengers filled in the long hours by cooking, cleaning, washing, reading and playing cards. Older children attended school. In the evenings there were dances and musical entertainment. When we arrived, many were disappointed to see thick forests instead of a green field, but we were happy that we have reach paradise. We had to live in the forest and we had to build our own home, some of the people went back to London and some stayed for good knowing that they had to work hard so that they can bring their family to New Zealand.
                                    THE END.

TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN (CHAPTER THIRTEEN)

24.08.18

1. All the teenagers have a specific role to play in their group. Describe the roles each teenager play?

  • Ellie: she was like the leader of the group just like Homer but the difference between the two of the two of them was that Ellie is was more of like coming out with a brilliant idea and Homer was like the action man in the group.
  • Chris: he bought some of the important information about the group and he was also doing his best to help the group and he shows valuable.
  • Fi: she is like a princess in the group.
  • Roybn: she was the one that looks after Lee she was like the medic person in the group.
  • Lee: he is can think logically about things and he was like the smart person in the group.
  • Kevin: he was like a useless person in the group he only thinks of himself and he was a guy with a short temperature.
  • Corrie: she is quite supportive of the group and she was a very good friend to Ellie and she was also Kevin's girlfriend.
2. According to what the teenagers hear on Corrie's radio, Why would America be best not to get involved in Australia's struggle?

  •  The general said that America would find themselves in the longest, costliest and bloodiest war in history. Because of the imbalance within the Region.

3. Why is Australia invaded?

  • cause of the imbalance of the land cause they had too much and not enough for other countries that's why they were invaded by other countries.

4.  A reader can infer many things from the snippet of news heard over Corrie's radio. Which country or countries are likely to have invaded Australia?

  • well I could not really answer that question cause according to the story those people that invaded Australia did not speak English they

5. How are the prisoners being treated?

  • they were cramped together and they were beaten up but not in a very bad way more like a nice way.

TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN CAHPTER TWELVE

21.08.18
1. They say, teenagers can sleep all day. Do you agree? Does Ellie still see herself as a typical teenager?

  • yes, it is, cause it's kinda related to a lifestyle which she could be related to.

2.  Ellie's dream at the beginning of the chapter is rather nonsensical, as dreams are won't be. Is there any meaning to it? Try and explain what Ellie's subconscious could be thinking about. Why is her dad cooking for the whole town? Why did Father Cronin ignore Ellie's greeting? Why Corrie 8 years old again? Why were they sailing off a boat? Why was Lee undressing?

  • Her dad cooking for the village may represent that her dad is taking care of the people that may be locked up with him.
Father Cronin ignored her because she did something sinful.
They sailed off on the boat away from all that's happening

*Maybe Ellie is thinking about the times she was young and only understood so little. Maybe she mistook her village with family and Father Cronin was just her imagination. She is remembering when she was able to do things without worry. Her dream was a build up for her to know her feelings for Lee which is why he was in her dream undressed.

3.  Why it is so terrible that Chris falls asleep while on the sentry duty? How does Ellie react? Why do you think she reacts this way? How does she feel about her reaction later?

  • * They don't know when someone comes to the show like one of the soldiers, then they will be in trouble. She reacted by screaming and getting angry at Chris. She reacted this way because she worries about her friends and everyone there. She felt bad since she said a lot of bad things to him which can make him feel bad.

4. Back in hell, Ellie's dream is far more ominous? Explain why is Ellie is dreaming of her fears?

  • *Since she actually felt peace at heart there was still something that could happen if they don't do anything about the soldiers and the invaders.

TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN
The war is here, is on!
They've come to arrogate our land.
They've come to destroy us.

We will fight, I will fight.
I fear no evil for I am brave to endure the bad situation.

I see their ammunition pointing straight to us,
Ready to shoot, but again we will fight to overcome their power, tomorrow and the war has begun.
